On July 22nd, 2024, CRI Partner Joseph May led two sessions at the annual Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society's (IRES) Career Development Seminar (CDS) in Bonita Springs, FL. This presentation is tailored for Insurance regulators and regulatory contractors, focused on inflation, interest rates, and their impacts on the insurance industry.
Business Etiquette
On February 6th, 2024, CRI Partner Francois Houde delivered a presentation titled "Business Etiquette" at Mississippi State University. This presentation was tailored for MSU Beta Alpha Psi students and aimed to provide guidance on business etiquette for future recruits on campus and general brand awareness.
CAM-A-THON for Florida Community Association Managers
On June 14th, 2024, CRI Partner Tim Fulmer presented as a Community Association Instructor, teaching a continuing education class to Association Managers to help them obtain continuing education credits. The class, titled "Best Practices: Association Financial Management," was attended by 79 Association Managers licensed in the State of Florida.
CAPLAW 2024 National Training Conference Pt.2
On June 4th, 2024, CRI Partner Keith presented a session in the Governance track titled "Hitting the Books: Financial Literacy for Board Members." This workshop aims to familiarize CAA board members with financial statements and balance sheets, helping them understand the financial information they encounter during board service to better oversee the organization's financial health. It was presented to grant-funded professionals working with community action agencies and Head Start programs in Los Angeles, CA.
CAPLAW 2024 National Training Conference
On June 5th, 2024, CRI Partner Keith Hundley presented a session in the Finance track titled "The Future of Financial Functions: Is Outsourcing an Option?" This session explored why CAAs might consider outsourcing fiscal functions, discussed decision-making factors, and highlighted key features of effective relationships between CAAs and external partners. It was presented to grant-funded professionals working with community action agencies and Head Start programs in Los Angeles, CA.
Atlanta IIA 2024 Financial Services Conference
On June 14th, 2024, CRI Partner Doug Mims presented at the IIA Atlanta 2024 Financial Services Conference, which featured two 75-minute virtual sessions. The first session focused on "Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Financial Services Industry," presented by Bjorn Austraat from Trust Bank. In the second session, Doug Mims moderated "Recent Events and Emerging Trends in the Banking Industry - A Regulatory Perspective." Topics included Anti-Money Laundering, Current Expected Credit Losses, Credit Risk Management, Interest Rate Risk/Liquidity, and Third-Party Risk Management.
NAREC 2024 Annual Financial & Tax Conference
On June 21, 2024, CRI Partner Doug Mims presented "Trends in Internal Audit," including the changes from the IPPF to the new Global Internal Audit Standards. Additionally, Doug covered the application of artificial intelligence in internal audits at the NAREC 2024 Annual Financial & Tax Conference for the National Association of Real Estate Finance Professionals.
Single Audit Updates and More
On May 22, 2024, CRI Partner April Shuping conducted a live presentation titled "Single Audit Updates and More" at the FGFOA conference. This session updated the revisions to the Uniform Guidance, Compliance Supplement, and Florida Single Audit Act, discussed their audit implications, and offered preparation tips for finance officers and grant managers to pass annual single audits efficiently. April delivered this live to a group of finance officers for local governments in Hollywood, FL
GASB 96 – SBITAs
On April 19th, 2024, CRI Partner April Shuping presented "GASB 96 - SBITAs" to a local chapter of FGFOA on updates to GASB 87/Leases and accounting and disclosure requirements of GASB 96 - SBITAs. This was presented live to a group of government accountants, finance directors, internal auditors, and auditors in Jacksonville, FL.
UCF Accounting Conference: Issues and Opportunities
On May 9th, 2024, CRI Partner Cheri Swain presented at the UCF Accounting Conference in Orlando, FL. Cheri co-presented with Yvonne Clayborne a 2-CPE course on the issues and opportunities in the advisory space to the UCF College of Business.
