In response to the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, the IRS has announced significant tax relief measures for individuals and businesses affected by the storm. As of October 1, 2024, taxpayers in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and parts of Florida, Tennessee, and Virginia will have until May 1, 2025, to file various federal tax returns and make payments. The IRS has postponed beginning dates for relief periods (which vary by state) as follows:

  • Beginning September 22, 2024, for Alabama,
  • Beginning September 23, 2024, for portions of Florida,
